Allison Milionis

This project required extensive research and travel with my collaborator and the intrepid N.Y. photographer, Karen Tweedy-Holmes. Although it was hard to narrow down the list, in the end we chose 13 horse sanctuaries in the U.S. that are doing exceptional work rescuing, caring for and rehabilitating equines. I interviewed the founders, volunteers and trainers at each facility to write the stories that make this labor of love my favorite project – so far.
