inScope Magazine

Role: Writer & editor

inScope is an in-house clinical magazine published by Providence Health & Services in Portland. My role on this magazine varied, depending on the needs of the managing editor for each issue. Sometimes I was tasked with ghost-writing articles for physicians or providing editorial support during their writing process. I also served as editor and copyeditor, fact-checker and researcher.

Unlike the consumer-facing publications I've worked on, inScope challenged my ability to distill complex scientific and medical information into short, digestible articles that met the standards of clinical experts. I navigated highly sophisticated data and research, and interacted with doctors and researchers on busy schedules. It was a welcome challenge to my comfort zone.
